Doberman Pinscher

Tenaciously loyal, intelligent, and alert, the Doberman Pinscher is a revered member of the working group of dogs. Originating in Germany during the later half of the 19th century, the Doberman was bred to be a fearless, reliable guard dog that could successfully fight off other animals or human threats. This resulted in the Doberman’s tall, muscular stature and agile, light-footed gait. The Doberman is a popular police dog throughout the world and will commonly have its ears cropped and tail docked during puppyhood to achieve the traditional, working-dog aesthetic.

Male Doberman Pinschers have a withers height between 26”-28” (66-71 cm) and a weight in the range of 75-100 lb (34-45.4 kg). Female Doberman Pinschers have a withers height between 24”-26” (61-66 cm) and a weight in the range of 60-90 lb (27.2-40.8 kg). The Doberman Pinscher has an overall body length of roughly 40”-46” (102-117 cm), standing height of 30”-35.5” (76-90 cm), and a typical lifespan of 10-12 years.
