Wrap around walk-in closets are walk-in closets designed to maximize storage space by combining the back wall with the side walls for additional storage. Organized as either L-Shaped or U-Shaped layouts, wrap around walk-ins organize storage on two or three consecutive sides of a central clearance space.

Using standard hanger rod depths of 24” (61 cm) for sizing, L-Shape wrap around walk-ins have a minimum width of 5’ (1.52 m), while U-Shape wrap around closets are slightly larger at a minimum width of 7’ (2.13 m). Overall closet depths can vary based on need, but are commonly around 5’-6’ (1.52-1.83 m( for efficiency.

The comfortable recommended depth of a closet is 24” (61 cm), but closet depths as narrow as 20” (50.8 cm) can be used if desired. Shelf depths of 12” (30.5 cm) should be used for shoes and smaller clothing elements. If shoes are larger than these measurements, specialty inclined shoe racks can be incorporated to save space without adding additional depth. Drawers for folded clothes should be set at a minimum of 18” (45.7 cm) with deeper drawers for multiple rows of folding clothing at a depth of 24” (61 cm). Deep drawers are consistent with standard closet depths 24” (61 cm).
