Mark Zuckerberg was born in White Plains, New York in 1984. He began working on computers and writing software as a teenager, and whilst at Harvard University he began to write code for the website he would later go on to develop, Facebook. The website was launched in 2004, initially to share photos and events of college life, but later expanded for public use. In 2010 Facebook was being used by over 500 million people worldwide. It’s success has provided Mark Zuckerberg with extreme wealth and power. He is often criticized for how Facebook uses its wide reach to influence people politically. Mark Zuckerberg’s life was depicted in the 2010 film, The Social Network.
