Comprised of a crossbar and vertical uprights, professional field goal posts reach a height of 35’ | 10.7 m and are capped with orange flags to visualize the direction and strength of the wind. A field goal’s crossbar is placed at 10’ | 3.05 m above the playing surface and the vertical uprights are split by 18.5’ | 5.64 m on professional and college fields (23’4” | 7.11 m for High School). Padding should always be placed on the field goal base for player safety.
