English Springer Spaniel

The English Springer Spaniel, a close relative to the Welsh Springer Spaniel and English Cocker Spaniel, is a sweet, energetic sporting dog. Historically, the Welsh Springer Spaniel was used to “spring,” where the name springer comes from, birds into the air for sport hunting. As a result of this breeding, the Welsh Springer Spaniel is accustomed to working around and with humans constantly and becomes miserable if left alone for long durations. The Welsh Springer Spaniel is a compact dog with a long, feathering brown coat with white markings or white coat with black, brown, and silver markings.

The average English Springer Spaniel has an overall height of 25.0”-31.0” (65-79 cm), withers height of 18.0”-22.0” (46-56 cm), and body length of 27.0”-33.0” (69-84 cm). A typical English Springer Spaniel weighs between 40-55 lb (18-25 kg) and has a lifespan of roughly 12-14 years.
